Safeguarding

Who has a duty to safeguard children?

Everyone!

We have a robust system for recording incidents called CPOMS.  It enables any issues raised to be recorded, at any time, by any member of staff.  It provides the governors with comprehensive reports, enabling challenge, which ensures staff are held to account.

We have a rigorous recruitment process that gathers evidence about staff suitability to work with children. All references are checked, and all staff, students, governors and volunteers must undergo an enhanced police check. All staff and volunteers also undertake regular safeguarding training.

Our safeguarding and child protection policy can be downloaded from our policies and documents page.

We have a designated safeguarding team in place as follows:

  • Jane Loader, Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Stephen Browes, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Jo McKenzie, Safeguarding and Attendance Officer

During school hours in term-time

Members of the safeguarding team can be contacted at school:

Outside school hours or during school holidays

If you have any concerns outside the usual school hours you can contact:

  • Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190 (choose the option for urgent child protection calls).

If you believe that a young person is at risk of immediate harm then you should call 999.

Safeguarding in the curriculum

At Hady Primary, safeguarding is everybody's responsibility.  We ensure that ideas and learning about safeguarding are woven into our curriculum.  Our approach to safeguarding topics can be seen in ‘safeguarding in the curriculum at Hady Primary School’.
